Locks and Time Capsules

One responsibility of Advisors is to hand out locks. At the end of the year we then need to collect the locks. Try this activity for some fun with the process.

Give each student a note card. Have them write a few of their favorite things down. You can ask things like favorite TV show, favorite hobby, easiest subject, etc. Then have students write on the reverse side their name, lock number, combo, and locker. Collect these and put them in a safe place until the end of the year.

At the end of the year you will need to collect locks. At this time you can have students retrieve their locks and click them on the note card to prepare to turn in. Students will have a fun time looking at how their favorites may have changed or stayed the same. They can then answer the same questions as how they feel now.

The fun part of the activity is that students get their same lock and note card back for all three years they are in Middle School. They can do this activity at the start and finish of each year!
